SaILS is an Immediate Life Support (ILS)-equivalent training session specifically designed for dental teams. It includes sedation-relevant emergencies and dental-focused airway management.
Core Topics:
· • Recognition of the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach
· • High-quality CPR and AED use
· • Airway management relevant to dental environments
· • Sedation-related emergencies:
- Syncope
- Asthma
- Anaphylaxis
- Seizures
- Cardiac arrest
· • Use of oxygen and emergency drugs
· • Team-based emergency simulations and scenario training
?? Note: Where all team members have a valid RCUK ILS certificate (within the past 18 months), the SaILS session can be replaced with a formal RCUK ILS course.

· • Sedation-trained Dentists and Dental Nurses
· • Dental Hygienists and Therapists involved in sedation
· • Clinical teams delivering IV sedation, RA sedation, or complex dental treatment under sedation
